Wilderness Magashi Review

Magashi is a spectacular solution to Rwanda’s growing need for a luxury safari lodge and a country-wide travel circuit. With six tented suites perched right at the water’s edge of Lake Rwanyakazinga, Wilderness Magashi brings a fresh, high-design hotel to Akagera National Park.

With an emphasis on collaboration with local communities and conservation education, Magashi not only serves its guests, but also its surroundings: the property is even working to introduce black rhinoceroses to the concession. The game-viewing here feels special, and Magashi also offers night game drives, which are ideal for viewing the nocturnal leopard population.

The lodge’s public spaces and tents are separated by elevated, wooden walkways, giving guests enough distance to feel secluded, and enough proximity to feel connected. There’s a small, lakeside pool for tanning and a quick dip, as well as a lovely fire pit for sundowners and post-dinner cocktails.
