Helsinki for Design Lovers

The latest in a series of Insider Journeys crafted in collaboration with Design Miami/, this special group trip explores the vibrant world of contemporary art, architecture and design in Helsinki, Finland. Our itinerary invites members to experience exclusive access to the Finnish capital’s esteemed galleries and studios, including private tours of the Alvar Aalto home and a personal visit with the contemporary sculptor Björn Weckström.

What to Expect

On this journey, members will meet with renowned Finnish artists and gallerists. Along with these behind-the-scenes visits and shopping experiences, members will enjoy expert-guided tours of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods with an emphasis on cultural history and the work of architects like Alvar Aalto.

We will visit Helsinki’s primary monuments—like the Chapel of Silence and the Sibelius Monument—and dine at some of the city’s most delicious and innovative restaurants. On this journey, we will be treated to insider perspectives on the future of style and architecture in the context of Helsinki’s famous design heritage.

Design Miami/ is the global forum for design, bringing together the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. He specializes in 18th-century embroidered textiles, Latin American art, midcentury furniture and 1980s Memphis design—and he’s a designer himself. With Rodman, you will travel behind-the-scenes of Helsinki’s greatest centers of art and design to meet with the people who know the region and its aesthetic.
