Midway between the Norwegian Fjords, the Scottish Highlands and Iceland, the Faroe Islands are a magical archipelago comprised of 18 islands, with dramatic cliffs that sit high above the North Atlantic: here, epic fjords, firths and straits span as far as the eye can see, complete with gorges, roaring waterfalls and plenty of wildlife (sheep, ponies, puffins and whales) across land and sea. And health and happiness are highly valued. This six-day itinerary allows for an ideal exploration of this otherworldly place—from Kalsoy, in the north (which had a starring role in the Bond film No Time To Die) to Vágar and Koltur. Daily private boat tours and guided walks and hikes combined with delicious farm-to-table meals, allow travelers to take in the spectacular landscape and see the islands at a well-choreographed pace. A self-governing nation under the external sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Faroe Islands are an autonomous country with a culture, language and currency of their own and their Viking ancestry is on full display. Nature and culture seekers will be rewarded on this road-less-traveled journey.
A spot on this trip may be reserved with a 50 percent non-refundable deposit, with the balance to be paid in full by March 1, 2024.
What to Expect
Itinerary highlights and special experiences:
See the remote islands by land and sea: Arrive by vintage schooner to Kalsoy Island and discover its hidden gems, including the mythical “Seal Woman” statue and the iconic Kallur Lighthouse. On Vágar Island, take in the unforgettable rugged landscapes of Bøur, Gásadalur, and Trøllkonufingur (the 1,000-plus-foot-high rocky “needle,” aka the “Troll Woman’s Finger”); and embark on a private boat tour to the mesmerizing Drangarnir “Sea Stacks”—fantastical basalt formations.
Enjoy a special private visit to Koltur Island and meet its sole inhabitant—a local farmer—who will share its history and his own.
Daily walks, hikes, drives and boat tours allow you to truly get the lay of the land and cover maximum ground as you take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy lovely meals made with island produce at the top restaurants on the islands, including Katrina Christiansen, ROKS and Ræst.
Please note that elements of the itinerary may change.
