Essential Willamette Valley
The perfect Willamette Valley itinerary combines wine tastings with time to relax and be outdoors. Here is just one example of what our destination experts can create for you.
Day 1: Spa Day
Settle in to the best hotel in the region, the Allison Inn & Spa. This blissful mountain retreat is set on 35 acres of manicured gardens and vineyards, and it places an emphasis on wellness. The property boasts a large indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna and steam rooms, as well as a fabulous fitness center and spectacular spa. On Sundays in the summer, the hotel runs alfresco yoga sessions in the garden. Indagare can arrange a wide variety of treatments, hikes and other meditative activities to help you relax.
Day 2: Wine Tasting
There are over 200 wineries that are within a 20-minute drive of the Allison Inn & Spa—and the area is far less crowded that Napa or Sonoma. Indagare can arrange tastings and transport through our favorite wineries to highlight local flavors. Just over half the grapes planted here are Pinot Noir (the valley’s Mediterranean climate is best suited for medium-bodied varietals), and while that is the specialty, the region is also known for its excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The rich soil is also responsible for the valley’s bountiful produce; hazelnuts, berries and truffles are particularly successful here.
Day 3: Portland
While many visitors will prefer to spend more time at the spa and wine properties, those who are looking for a more active experience will enjoy making the 30-minute drive to Portland, either for the next leg of their journey or for a brief day visit. Indagare can arrange private transfers and guides to make the most of your time in the city, with a focus on art, cuisine and music.
