      Hit the road and make your way to Schloss Elmau, an acclaimed castle hotel. En route, visit the Franz Marc Museum, take a boat ride across Kochl Lake and visit the soaring Baroque abbey Ettal. While based at the Schloss, take day trips to such quaint villages as Wallgau and Krün and hike around stunning glacier lakes.

      Day 5:

      Continue on to Salzburg, making stops at an authentic Biergarten for lunch and tour Schloss Herrenchiemsee, one of King Ludwig’s castles that is as opulent as more famous Neuschwanstein, but with fewer crowds.
