Champagne

Practically synonymous with luxury, celebration, and good taste, Champagne—the region—shares the grand reputation of its eponymous product. Dotted with splendid chateaus and Michelin-starred restaurants, France’s most northerly wine-producing region is also home to lush forests and historic landmarks. Underscoring its historical and geographical importance, UNESCO added the Saint-Nicase Hill in Reims (which has been occupied since Roman times and is now home to six of Champagne’s grand maisons) to its World Heritage List in 2015.

"In France, there’s absolutely nothing exceptional about identifying and pursuing the small things that make you happy. One of the regions that’s most pronounced is certainly Champagne, where bubbly with every meal is expected and delightful."
