Founded in 1559, Udaipur was the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar, famous for fending off Mughal invaders for several centuries. After breakfast at your hotel terrace, head out on a guided tour of Udaipur’s most important historic sites. City Palace, home to the Maharanas of Udaipur, was built over three centuries and is a series of four interconnecting palaces, illustrative of various architectural styles. Afterwards, visit the Maharaja’s private Vintage Car Museum and the interesting Crystal Gallery, which belongs to the royal family.
Spend your second day in Udaipur taking a guided walk in the old city where shops sell a variety of wares, unexpected folk art decorates the walls of houses and small architectural gems dot the streets. Afterwards, enjoy a sunset boat ride on the lake before dinner at your hotel.
